Plunge Around 4 PM
Important: Pledges Only — IRS Tax-Exempt Recognition Not Yet Received
We are in the process of seeking recognition of federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The IRS has not granted that recognition, and approval is not guaranteed. Submitting this form records only a nonbinding expression of your intention to contribute in the future; no payment is collected, no obligation to pay is created, and the pledge itself is not a tax-deductible contribution. We make no representation or guarantee that any future contribution will be tax-deductible.
In November 2022, Lindsay Peeler was diagnosed with an aggressive stage IV glioblastoma, a devastating form of brain cancer. For more than two and a half years, Lindsay faced this disease with extraordinary courage, grace, and determination. On June 19, 2025, Lindsay passed away at the age of 39, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and perseverance that continues to inspire all who knew her.
In December 2022, Lindsay underwent her first brain surgery while pregnant with her youngest daughter, Camden Dawn. As her cancer progressed, a second surgery was scheduled for November 2023.
Just days before that surgery, Lindsay, her husband Rob, and a small group of family and friends gathered for their first plunge into the frigid waters of Lake Michigan. Plunging is an act of bravery, and few embodied that spirit more than Lindsay.
Despite the progression of her disease, Lindsay remained remarkably resilient. In 2024, as her eyesight deteriorated and she lost her ability to drive, she continued to confront each new challenge with strength and determination.
That November, dear friends Kelly and Emiko organized a second plunge to honor Lindsay’s bravery and her ongoing battle against glioblastoma.
In November 2025, family and friends gathered once again, this time plunging in Lindsay’s memory. What began as a small gesture of solidarity had become a meaningful tradition celebrating her remarkable spirit and the lasting impact she had on so many lives.
On November 20, 2026, we will come together once more to honor and remember our beloved Lindsay — a devoted wife, wonderful mother, cherished daughter, sister, and friend.
But this year’s gathering represents something more.
Inspired by the generosity of friends and loved ones, including those who have asked how they can contribute from afar, we are taking an important step toward transforming this annual tradition into a lasting legacy.
We are establishing Lindsay’s Legacy Charity, an organization dedicated to preserving Lindsay’s memory by supporting causes that reflect the values she held dear: education, perseverance, compassion, and helping others overcome life’s challenges.
We anticipate receiving our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt determination within the next six months.
Our initial initiatives will focus on two areas particularly meaningful to Lindsay and her family.
Supporting Education and Academic Opportunity
We plan to establish two scholarships in Lindsay’s name at Lake Forest High School, recognizing deserving students pursuing higher education.
We have a special interest in supporting students with learning differences, inspired by Lindsay’s own experience navigating dyslexia and her unwavering commitment to academic excellence.
We also plan to host a dance-a-thon during the week of what would have been Lindsay’s 41st birthday, bringing family, friends, and the community together to celebrate her life and support the charity’s mission.
Supporting Families Facing Glioblastoma
Having experienced firsthand the profound challenges of a glioblastoma diagnosis, we understand the emotional, physical, and financial burdens this disease can place on families.
In Lindsay’s honor, we hope to provide meaningful assistance and resources to individuals and families navigating the difficult journey of glioblastoma diagnosis and treatment.
We are deeply grateful for the many friends, family members, and community supporters who have expressed an interest in helping us build Lindsay’s Legacy.
As we await our 501(c)(3) determination, we are welcoming nonbinding pledges of future support from those who wish to contribute once our charitable status is confirmed.
If you would like to learn more, express your interest in supporting the charity, or become involved in our efforts, please reach out to a member of Lindsay’s immediate family or contact us at:
Thank you for continuing to surround Lindsay’s family with love, friendship, and support.
What began as a plunge into the cold waters of Lake Michigan has grown into something much greater — a community united by Lindsay’s remarkable spirit.
Together, we hope to transform our remembrance of Lindsay into a lasting legacy of courage, opportunity, compassion, and hope.
